Redhead By-Choice? Here’s How to Make it Look More Natural

Get More Natural Looking Red Hair

Not everyone can be born a redhead. In fact, less than 2% of the population has red hair. If you love the red look and want to dye your hair red, you might want a more natural look. Here are a few tips and tricks to help you achieve that natural redhead look.

1. Consider your undertones

There are a lot of different shades of red hair. Most natural redheads have a shade that complements their skin undertones. Consider your undertones and try to find natural redheads with similar features so you can see what colors will look best on you.

2. Go to a professional

There’s a reason people say “you can’t get that color from a bottle”. Coloring your hair to a natural red color can be very difficult. A trained stylist can help you get as close as possible without damaging your hair.

3. Try coloring your hair with henna

Either at home or with a stylist, you can color your hair with henna for a more natural red look. Be sure to strand test your hair to see how it reacts, and be cautious when using henna on dyed hair as it may turn a strange color.

4. Keep up on maintenance

Your roots will give you away if you don’t keep up with them. Schedule a regular root touchup with your stylist so you can make sure you’ve got them covered.

5. Change your eyebrows

Most redheads have blonde eyebrows, so if you’ve got dark brown brows people will know you’re not a redhead. Consider bleaching your brows and either tinting them or using a brow gel like Finally Have Brows

6. Choose the right color

If you are using a dye from your local drugstore, consider this guide when choosing the right color.
