When Redheads Need To Splurge (And When To Save) On SPF Products

Know Where to Put Your Money

SPF and sun care products can sometimes carry a heavy price tag. As redheads who go through SPF quickly, it can sometimes lead you to wonder if you really need the highest-end products. Well, we’re breaking it down and letting you know which categories you can save on and which you should splurge on.

Body Sunscreen: SAVE

Body sunscreen is something you can save on. Drug store brands are just as good as “high-end” brands. Regardless of where you buy, you want to look for sunscreens that are broad-spectrum, have SPF between 30 and 50, and are free of carcinogens. There’s also no use in spending money on something with SPF over 50 because it won’t make much difference in the protection level

Facial Sunscreen: SPURGE

Redheads usually have more sensitive skin, especially on our faces. That’s why you might want to splurge on your facial sunscreen. A higher-end sunscreen meant specifically for your face will give you better makeup application and leave you breakout free

Lip Sunscreen: SAVE

SPF lip balm is a must for the summertime, but the brand doesn’t really matter. As long as it has an SPF of 15 or more, go ahead and choose whichever lip balm you like best.

Hats: SAVE

Summer sunhats a great for protecting your neck, face, and scalp from the summer sun. Every redhead should have some hats in their summer wardrobe, but they don’t have to break the bank. As long as the hat keeps you covered, it could be $5 or $500 and it won’t really matter.

Sun Protection Clothing: SPLURGE

If you really want an extra layer of sun protection, opt for UPF clothing. It will come with a higher price tag, but it’s an investment well worth the extra money to keep your skin safe.
