Are you kidding me? There are certain colors we all know us redheads should not wear, and I still stand by it because it’s fact. White, black, grey, pastel blue (almost any pastel really), fuchsia, look awful on us redheads. Why? Because they drain us, they make us look grey or sickly or white as a ghost. All of our warmth and charm gets its life sucked out of us in the wrong colors. You can apply blush and bronzer until the cows come home and it ain’t gonna make the least bit of difference. I really despise when I read things such as this from the fashion and cosmetic industry or even a lay beauty blogger. We all know some 40 years ago or so beauty rules were set in place for us. Yet, we ignore them for the sake of trend and fashion. Stop it! Go back to the roots. Do your research before you even think of buying that shade of lipstick or new dress. Set aside your ignorance and color baggage (you know you have). And, get to know your colors and embrace them. Get to know your season and all that entails. I cannot emphasize enough of how important it is to know your colors, especially us redheads.

We each have a season of colors that look best on us. For example, Winter includes pure white, Autum excludes it and includes the off-whites and ivories. Summer colors are Winter plus white, so have many of the pastels. Spring is Autumn colors plus white. Pink skin tones are usually Winter or Summer, peach or olive skin tones are often Falls and Springs. You can, of course, wear any color you want, but you’ll know your season by the colors that look best on you. My mom’s an auburn-haired Autumn, so if she wears Winter colors like pure white or black, she looks washed out and sickly. I’m a bright-red-haired Winter, so off-whites don’t look as good on me. You can get your colors done or just experiment. You’ll know by the colors that really make you pop. There’s a spectrum of the colors in each season, with varying degrees of cool or warm colors, so there’s always lots to choose from. Have fun!
