Chrome refers to a reflective shine or a glazed, frosted finish.
You might have noticed chrome nails took over the internet in 2022, and now we’re seeing a new chrome trend in 2023: chrome lips. You might be thinking: isn’t that just like the frosted lips of the 90s and 2000s? Sort of, but the current chrome lip trend is taking things one step further.
The frosted Y2K lip trend (like we see on Kate Winslet) leaned heavily on baby pinks and pearlescent colors. This new chrome lip trend is going all in with bold, dark colors in a chrome finish.
Is this trend ‘Redhead Friendly’ though?
This look is bold and when done right, it is redhead-approved. Our suggestion is to opt for complementary shades: deep pinks and reds. If you’re daring, go for the super moody lip. If you’re not ready to invest in this style of lipstick just yet and want to try the trend for yourself, you can also DIY the look with a chrome eyeshadow over a liquid lipstick you already have.
