Finally Bold® redhead lipsticks dropped on May 10th and we’re so excited for everyone to enjoy them. The new lipstick line is made for redheads by redheads in the three essential colors every redhead should own. We custom-designed these shades to flatter all redheads and to be your go-to daily lipstick. Influencers like @withwonderandwhimsy are showing off their outfits when wearing the different shades of Finally Bold. Are you ready to start rocking your lipstick with a new outfit? Here are a few tips to help you style each shade.

Finally Bold® - Lipsticks for Redheads: $26

1. Won’t Wash You Out: Perfectly Nude

Nude lipstick is a must-have for everyone, but it can be hard to find the right shade for redheads. Lots of nude lipsticks are too fark for fair-skinned redheads, or wash you out. Perfectly Nude is just that — the perfect nude shade for redheads. Because it’s a nude, you can pair this shade with any outfit, but a few ways we love to rock it are:

  • Business / Work Wear: A nude lip is elegant and understated but still very chic. It won’t clash with any colors you choose to wear, and pairs great with neutrals too.
  • Neutral Top + Jeans: Dressed up or down, a neutral-colored top with some denim on the bottom is a staple look. Pair this classic look with a classic lip shade like nude.
  • Cool-Toned Looks: Wearing something more cool-toned? A nude lip is the perfect way to make sure you’re not clashing!

Won't Wash You Out: Perfectly Nude: $26

2. Pinking of You: Perfectly Pink

For some redheads, pink is their nude and it’s almost as versatile. A good pink shade adds color and definition to the lips without feeling overwhelming. It’s almost like your lips — but better. Like a nude lipstick, there really are no limits, but we love to rock Perfectly Pink with:

  • Casual Attire: For a pop of color and fun with any outfit, even the casual ones, we love a pink lipstick. It’s very natural and gives just the right amount of definition to the lips.
  • Anything Floral: It can be hard to pair florals, especially if they have a lot of color. The one color that seems to complement them all? Pink! Pair Perfectly Pink with a floral top, dress, or skirt.
  • Warm-Toned Looks: Another gorgeous way to balance your warm-toned looks is with some pink lipstick. It won’t compete with the warm colors, and won’t wash you out.

Pinking of You: Perfectly Pink: $26

3. RED-Y For This: Perfectly Red

The lipstick that scares so many redheads is red. You can rock it with confidence1 Red lipstick doesn’t go with every outfit, but it can be dressed up or down for a classic style.

  • Formal Attire: We love a red lip for a formal look, especially when wearing black, or RED! Of course nude and pink work wonders for formal attire too, but red really steals the show.
  • Red + White: The quintessential way to wear red lipstick is with a red and white outfit. This color combo can be dressed up or down, paired with denim, or made elegant and chic. Whatever your style, try out the red and white combo with Perfectly Red.
  • Dark Neutrals: Red can go with anything neutral, but a look we really love is pairing a red lip with a darker neutral like black, dark gray, navy blue, and deep earthy tans.

RED-Y For This: Perfectly Red: $26

Rock it like a Redhead!

Every week, we put out a call for your redhead questions. This gives you a chance to get advice or input from our team of redheads. From beauty and fashion to lifestyle, redheads are in a unique boat, and we want to help make this community a place where you can turn to for all your redhead needs.

This week we’re tackling a question we’ve received a couple of times. Can redheads wear white? Do redheads look good in white? Do redheads look better in black or white? Let’s talk about it! A common misconception is that redheads can’t (or shouldn’t) wear the color white. While, of course, redheads can technically wear anything, this idea comes from the fact that most redheads are fair-skinned. The idea that fair-skinned people shouldn’t wear white is silly. Redheads look amazing in white, and it can really make our red hair pop.

Redheads can wear white because it complements our unique hair color and creates a striking contrast that enhances our overall appearance. Additionally, white clothing can help to brighten a redhead’s complexion and make our natural features stand out. It’s all about finding the right shades and styles of white that work best for each individual redhead’s skin tone and personal style. Let’s talk about how redheads can rock white:

1. Know about the different shades of white and which looks best on you

The first thing to think about is “pure” white versus other shades of white. While very similar, different whites can look very different against our skin. Often, pure white will actually stand out better against a redhead’s skin, while shades of white like ivory and off-white may be closer to your skin tone and blend in more. That being said, redheads can rock either — it’s all about personal preference.

2. When in doubt, pair white with other colors

When styling a white piece of clothing, the colors you pair it with can make a big difference in how it looks. Of course, white is neutral, so it pairs well with every other color. The way you pair white is all about your preferences. Pairing white with other light colors will make you look more light and airy. Pairing white with darker colors will give you more of a contrast. You can also pair white with bright colors to help balance them out.

Here are some tips based on season:

1. Spring:

  • Pair a white blouse with pastel-colored bottoms like light pink or mint green.
  • Opt for floral print dresses with white as the base color.
  • Layer a white cardigan over a floral dress for cooler spring days.

2. Summer:

  • Wear a crisp white sundress with colorful accessories like a statement necklace or bold sandals.
  • Combine white shorts with a vibrant top like coral or turquoise.
  • Choose lightweight white fabrics like linen or cotton for breathability.

3. Autumn:

  • Pair white jeans with warm-toned sweaters such as rust or mustard.
  • Add a touch of fall with a plaid scarf or printed cardigan over a white blouse.
  • Incorporate white into layered outfits with earthy tones like olive green or burnt orange.

4. Winter:

  • Wear a white wool coat over dark-colored layers like a black turtleneck and charcoal pants.
  • Combine a white sweater with rich jewel-toned bottoms such as navy or burgundy.
  • Accessorize with metallic accents like silver or gold to add warmth to winter whites.

3. What to do when choosing between white + black

When choosing between these two neutrals, black often seems like the safer choice. Let’s think about how wearing a white top will look with your hair and skin versus a black top. A white top will reflect light, white light onto your face. For redheads with fair skin, this may help to brighten the face. Wearing a black top will reflect a darker light up onto the face, which may cause you to look more washed out. That doesn’t mean redheads can’t wear black, they absolutely can! It just means that you should try on that white top, you might be surprised how good it looks.

So, should redheads wear white?

Yes! Redheads should wear whatever they want, and whatever makes them comfortable. Our hair color is a huge part of our identity, but it doesn’t have to define everything we do. Wear white if you like it, and if you don’t there are tons of other light and neutral colors to choose from.

Wondering what the most flattering colors are for redheads? Well, one color is magenta. It is one of the most perfect colors because it flatters our red hair, but also adds a pop of color. Some shades of bright pink can feel overwhelming while some shades of lighter pink can make us feel washed out.

Magenta is a rich and bold choice for redheads and that’s why How to be a Redhead co-founders, Adrienne and Stephanie, chose to wear it for their appearance on Shark Tank which aired on February 15, 2024 (Season 15, Episode 14). Adrienne wore this stunning jumpsuit (without the jacket) in a more warm-toned magenta called ‘Fushia’, and Stephanie opted for a similar jumpsuit in a little bit of a cooler-toned magenta called ‘Wild Berry’.

Wondering how you can rock magenta with your red hair? We’ve got you covered:

Magenta top and basic bottoms

A fantastic way for redheads to rock magenta is by pairing a magenta top with basic bottoms. The magenta will be close your hair and eyes making them pop — while the simple pants or skirt will help to balance the outfit. This look works particularly well with black or denim jeans or other basic black trousers, skirts, or shorts.

Full magenta moment

If you really want to rock the magenta, try a full magenta moment like Adrienne and Stephanie did. Magenta dresses or jumpsuits are perfect for any special occasion. The pink tones will help to accentuate your hair and skin to perfection. We love pairing a full magenta moment with a nude shoe to help give the color its time to shine.

Wear magenta with other colors

Magenta is beautiful, but what colors do you pair it with other than black, white, and nude? We love magenta paired with jewel tones like emerald green, and other complementary colors like blue and red. The best part about magenta is it comes in lots of different shades and this makes it easier to pair with other colors. We love the really vibrant ones but if you’re not 100% sold on the pop of pink, try going for a darker berry shade and pairing it with colors you love.

Magenta makeup

Magenta and berry are great shades for redheads when it comes to makeup. You can rock the magenta on your lips, eyes, and even your cheeks. The pink tones will really pop, and make you look stunning.

Magenta nails

Another way we absolutely adore magenta? Nails! Berry-colored nails are trendy year-round and are the perfect in-between of pink and red. Berry tones look ultra-flattering on fair skin tones too.

Magenta accessories

Add a pop of pink to any outfit with some magenta accessories. Magenta shoes, bags and earrings will give you the color you’re looking for without feeling overwhelmed. We love adding these magenta pops to neutral outfits!

Rock it like a Redhead!

Animal print has gone in and out of style over the years, but it’s back and bigger than ever. Animal print is one of those patterns that you may see in the store and love, but once you get it home, sometimes it’s hard to style. We think redheads look amazing in animal print and we want to show you a few ways you can style the animal print pieces you have at home or the ones that catch your eye this season:

Keep it neutral

The absolute easiest way to rock animal print is by making it neutral. Most animal prints are made up of browns, blacks, and whites which means that they are easy to pair. Wear your animal prints with other pieces that contain those same colors and your animal print will blend in perfectly. This is also a great way to rock animal print if you aren’t sold on making a statement

Add a pop of red

Pops of red make everything better and red goes perfectly with animal print. Adding some red will help to balance the look and focus the eye on all aspects rather than just the animal print. You can also do this with pops of other colors if red isn’t your thing.

Mix patterns

If you’re feeling bold, try mixing your animal prints with other prints. Stripes, checkers, and plaids all look amazing with animal print. Don’t be afraid to mix your colors either, remember animal print is neutral.

Grunge it up

Adding some “grunge” elements to your animal print outfit is a great way to make it feel more purposeful. Try adding things like leather, Doc Martins, and band tees. You can create a cute, casual yet stylish look and your animal print won’t feel out of place.

Accessorize

Maybe animal print is something you’re new to, or maybe you just like a more simple outfit. That’s okay! Try rocking animal print in your accessories. Belts, shoes, and bags are all great statement pieces you can use to add a pop of animal print without committing too much.

Rock it like a Redhead!

We have a series called “How to Wear” where we break down colors and show you how redheads can rock anything. We talk a lot about how to pair these colors with other colors and how to find the right shade for you. In this installment, we’re talking about something a little different — how to wear the color white with your red hair:

All About White

Technically, white isn’t a “color”. But, for the sake of talking about styling, we’re going to refer to it as one. Unlike the other colors we’ve talked about in this series, white doesn’t have different shades. But there are different versions of white — like off-white, cream or eggshell. These are all white with a little bit of warmth added to them. Since white isn’t technically on the color wheel it doesn’t have a really complementary color, but if you look for the opposite of white, it’s black.

Redheads Wearing White

White is a color that many redheads shy away from because many have pretty fair skin. Many people think wearing white is going to wash you out, but the truth is that picking the right shade of white can actually bring out more color in your skin. If you have fair skin and you wear stark or “true” white, your skin could look more saturated against the starkness of the white. But, if you wear an off-white color that’s too close to your skin it might wash you out. That being said, redheads absolutely can wear shades of off-white, but you may want to choose an off-white that does not have the same undertone as your skin.

  • If you have more cool/yellow skin undertones you may want to opt for a more orange based off white.
  • And if you have warmer/more orange skin undertones you may want to opt for a more yellow based off white.

Pairing White with Other Colors

We already know white goes with everything. White is a fashion neutral and you can pair it with every single color on the color wheel. White is also great for an accent shade or for pulling a look together.

If you want a really sophisticated look, white looks amazing with other fashion neutrals such as black, tan, brown, and denim. One thing to look out for is pairing white with shades of off-white. This can work, but sometimes if you’re wearing too many, it looks mismatched. It’s usually best to try and keep your white and off-whites similar to one another to keep a cohesive look.

This is another installment in our “How to Wear” series where we break down colors and styles and show you how redheads can rock anything. This series gives you the basics on colors and what to wear them with, as well as how to choose the right ones for you. This time we’re talking about yellow:

All About Yellow

Do you know what color is most commonly said to be the hardest to pull off? Yellow. Redheads are often told not to wear yellow because it will clash with their hair and wash them out. Redheads aren’t the only ones who are told to stay away from this color, it’s common for most people to think of yellow as a no-go. Yellow can be a hard color to wear, and sometimes even harder to style, but if you have the confidence and the color knowledge redheads can absolutely wear yellow.

When most people think of yellow, they think of bright school bus yellow, or neon but there are so many different types of yellow you have to think outside the box. The way yellow looks also really depends on the colors it’s paired with. Yellow’s complementary color is purple, which can help to accent yellow and make it pop. For many of our How to Wear series installments, we’ve focused on the “true” version of a color, but for yellow we want to explore all the options.

Finding the Shade

Colors come in different shades (hues) and saturations (intensities), and finding the right ones for your red hair is key to loving any color. Yellow can also be more orange-toned, or more green-toned and it can be “true” yellow too. Yellow can also be dark and rich like a jewel tone, or light and airy like a pastel. Darker shades of yellow are often referred to as shades of brown. It can also be every color in between. Below is the saturation of the color. If you don’t like a certain color, try going for a different shade, or even a different saturation of the color

If you already know which shade of yellow you like, you’re well on your way. If not, here are a few things to consider.

  1. Your shade of red hair: If your hair is a “true red” you may also want to opt for rich “true” yellow colors. If your hair runs more orange to strawberry blond, you may want to opt for more of an orangey yellow. If your hair is a darker red, or perhaps a faux cherry cola red you may want to opt for more green shades of yellow.
  2. Your complexion: Most redheads have fair to medium skin, but redheads can have any complexion. Consider your complexion when it comes to choosing how dark or light you want your yellow to be. Fairer-skinned redheads may want to opt for a darker shade of yellow, while redheads with a more medium skin may choose to go lighter towards the lighter end of the spectrum. Of course, you can go either way, but lighter colors may wash out a lighter complexion. Choose a saturation that contrasts your skin a bit. You can also consider if you are high, medium, or low contrast.
  3. Your undertones: Similarly to the shade of your red hair, you want to consider your undertones. If you have cool undertones, you may want to opt for a more green yellow, and if you have more warm undertones you may want a more orange-toned yellow, and neutral undertones, a more “true” yellow.

Pairing Yellow with Other Colors

We already know purple is yellow’s complementary color, but what other colors go well with yellow? In fashion, there are a couple of colors we consider neutral. This includes black, white, off-white/tan, and denim. So denim isn’t one specific color, but blue jeans go with every color so they are considered a fashion neutral. You can pair any shade of yellow with any of these colors. Monochromatic looks are also a great option. Pairing shades of yellow together can help create a cohesive look that still feels dimensional.

Other colors that look amazing with yellow include the colors found in yellow’s color family which are shades of orange and shades of green. These are called analogous colors. Since yellow’s complementary color is purple, its secondary complementary colors are blue and red/pink which are found on either side of purple.

Different shades of yellow will pair better with different colors. For example, if you want to pair yellow with red/pink, opt for a more orange-yellow, and if you want to pair yellow with blue, opt for a more green-yellow.

Now these rules aren’t hard and fast, but they are a good jumping-off point if you’re trying to create a cohesive look. You can easily find any colors complementary colors by going across the color wheel from it, and you can find the analogous colors or the colors in the same color scheme, on either side of any given color.

We’ve talked a lot on our “How to Wear” series about how redheads can rock different colors. We’ve talked about finding the right shades for your red hair and skin tone, how to pair colors together and so much more. What haven’t we talked about? Neon. We aren’t talking 1980s neon, we’re talking cute, trendy, bold pieces in fun neon colors. Neon is a staple for spring and summer and if you think it’s outdated, you’ve got it wrong. Here’s how to rock neon, stay trendy, and step out of your comfort zone:

What is Neon?

We refer to colors as neon when they appear as the most extreme, brightest version of a color. These colors are bold, bright, and noticeable. Primary and secondary colors can all be neon, but you’re probably most familiar with colors like neon yellow, neon green, neon orange, and neon pink. For the purpose of this topic, we’re calling anything in its brightest, most saturated state, neon.

How Can Redheads Rock it?

Like all the other colors we’ve talked about in the “How to Wear” series, everyone has their own opinion on neons, and some redheads love them, while some redheads hate them. Neon has had a particularly bad rap for fair-skinned redheads because some people think it’s too harsh against their skin. We think neon looks amazing on all skin tones, and it’s more about confidence. Even some of your favorite celebs rock neon! But if you’re hesitant about adding that extra bold color, here’s a few ways we think redhead can embrace the neon glow.

Just Be Bold

Neon is a statement, and you’ve got to be feeling a little bold to wear it. Being bold might not come easy to you, but you’ve got to fake it until you make it. For many redheads, our vibrant hair is enough to make us stand out. But adding some neon to your wardrobe is the perfect way to elevate things to the next level.

Use it as an Accent Color

If you’re just getting into neon colors, start small. Adding a pop of neon to an all-black outfit is a great way to get started. Not only will the black make the neon pop, but you won’t feel like a walking neon sign.

Add an Animal Print

Ready to step out of your comfort zone a little more? Pair your neons with an animal print. It’s bold, it’s fun, it’s trendy, and its a great way to get your neutrals in without feeling boring.

Try Something Monochromatic

If you want to feel chic, there’s nothing better than a monochromatic look, and a neon one is fire. There’s something about dressing in all one color that makes your outfit look super purposeful and like you really know what you’re doing. Feeling a little skittish about neon? Try going all out, you might feel off but you won’t look it.

Mix & Match

Ready to elevate your neon game all the way to the top? Let’s take the color pairing tools we’ve learned from the What to Wear Series and apply it to our neons! Pairing different bold shades together will give you an awesome look.

We Also Love “Not So” Neons

Still not sure about this whole neon business? Try some colors we’re calling “not so neon”. Things like magenta, chartreuse, and royal blue. These colors are bold and beautiful but they are a little more toned down than classic neons.

Rock it like a Redhead!

This is another installment in our “How to Wear” series where we break down colors and styles and show you how redheads can rock anything. This series gives you the basics on colors and what to wear them with, as well as how to choose the right ones for you. This time we’re talking about blue:

All About Blue

Blue is a color in every redhead’s palette and for good reason! As the complementary color to orange, blue looks stunning on redheads. Blue also makes our eyes pop and can be paired with so many other colors.

Blue is one of those colors that’s super versatile because its darkest shade navy looks close to black, while its lightest shade can mirror white or gray which are all neutrals.

Finding the Shade

Colors come in different shades (hues) and saturations (intensities), and finding the right ones for your red hair is key to loving any color. Blue is naturally cool-toned, but it can also be more green-toned, or more purple-toned and it can be “true” blue in the middle. This is the shade. Blue can also be dark and rich like a jewel tone, or light and airy like a pastel. It can also be every color in between. This is the saturation of the color. If you don’t like a certain color, try going for a different shade, or even a different saturation of the color

If you already know which shade of blue you like, you’re well on your way. If not, here are a few things to consider.

  1. Your shade of red hairIf your hair is a “true red” you may want to opt for rich “true” blue colors. If your hair runs more orange to strawberry blonde, you may want to opt for more of a green-blue. If your hair is a darker red, or perhaps a faux cherry cola red you may want to opt for more purple blues.
  2. Your complexion – Most redheads have fair to medium skin, but redheads can have any complexion. Consider your complexion when it comes to choosing how dark or light you want your blue to be. Fairer-skinned redheads may want to opt for a darker shade of blue, while redheads with a more medium skin may choose to go lighter. Of course, you can go either way, but lighter colors may wash out a lighter complexion. Choose a saturation that contrasts your skin a bit. You can also consider if you are high, medium, or low contrast.
  3. Your undertones – Similarly to the shade of your red hair, you want to consider your undertones. If you have cool undertones, you may want to opt for a more green blue, and if you have more warm undertones you may want a more purple-toned blue, and neutral undertones, a more “true” blue.

Pairing Blue with Other Colors

We already know that orange is blue’s complementary color, but what other colors go well with blue? In fashion, there are a couple of colors we consider neutral. This includes black, white, off-white/tan, and denim. So denim isn’t one specific color, but blue jeans go with every color so they are considered a fashion neutral. You can pair any shade of blue with any of these colors. Monochromatic looks are also a great option. Pairing shades of blue together can help create a cohesive look that still feels dimensional.

Other colors that look amazing with blue include the colors found in blue’s color family which are shades of green and shades of purple. These are called analogous colors. Since blue’s complementary color is orange, its secondary complementary colors are yellow and red which are found on either side of orange.

Different shades of blue will pair better with different colors. For example, If you want to pair blue with yellow, opt for a more green blue, and if you want to pair blue with red, opt for a more purple blue.

Now these rules aren’t hard and fast, but they are a good jumping-off point if you’re trying to create a cohesive look. You can easily find any colors complementary colors by going across the color wheel from it, and you can find the analogous colors or the colors in the same color scheme, on either side of any given color.

This is another installment in our “How Redheads Can Wear” series where we break down colors and styles and show you how redheads can rock anything. This series gives you the basics on colors and what to wear them with, as well as how to choose the right ones for you. This time we’re talking about red:

All About Red

Red is probably the number one color redheads are told not to wear, but guess what? We LOVE rocking red!! Redheads look amazing in red and all it takes is a little confidence to pull it off.

Red’s complementary color is green, which is why red hair and green eyes are such a stunning combination. Because red hair isn’t actually red and is more orangey, finding the right shade of red is the key to feeling confident in it.

Finding the Shade

Colors come in different shades (hues) and saturations (intensities), and finding the right ones for your red hair is key to loving any color. Red can also be more orange-toned, or more blue-toned and it can be “true” red in the middle. This is the shade. Red can also be dark and rich like a jewel tone, or light and airy like a pastel. Pastel red is often referred to as a shade of pink. It can also be every color in between. This is the saturation of the color. If you don’t like a certain color, try going for a different shade, or even a different saturation of the color

If you already know which shade of red you like, you’re well on your way. If not, here are a few things to consider.

  1. Your shade of red hairIf your hair is a “true red” you may also want to opt for rich “true” red colors. Fairer-skinned redheads may want to opt for a darker shade of red, while redheads with a more medium skin may choose to go lighter towards the pink end of the spectrum.
If you have cool undertones, you may want to opt for a more blue/purple red, and if you have more warm undertones you may want a more orange-toned red, and neutral undertones, a more “true” red.
