What Is a Sunscreen Oil and Can Redheads Use It?

Oil That Actually Protects Your Skin! Wow.

For many redheads, it’s impossible to tan. You may have seen friends or family use oil to help achieve a tan and laughed at the thought of using it yourself. If you’re wondering why so many used oils and tanning oils — it is because the oil attracts to the heat and light, and gives a deeper tan at a faster speed. In current times, we know unprotected tanning will lead to skin damage and potentially, skin cancer. With tanning oils losing popularity, there’s a new sunscreen oil gaining lots of buzz. Here’s everything redheads need to know:

What is sunscreen oil exactly?

Sunscreen comes in many formulas:  sprays, creams, mouses, and even powders. There is a NEW formula option for sunscreen and it comes in an oil form. Like any regular sunscreen, sunscreen oil should be applied every 1-2 hours to help prevent sunburn and skin damage

What are the benefits of sunscreen oil?

Because the product is an oil, it’s very hydrating to the skin. When rubbed in, the oil can leave the skin looking glowy and hydrated. The hydrating properties of sunscreen oil make it perfect for those with dryer skin types. It also doesn’t leave a white cast and there’s no risk of pilling on the skin. Many sunscreen oils come in a spray bottle for easy application.

What are the best sunscreen oils for redheads?

One of the downsides of sunscreen oil is they usually come in a lower SPF rating than regular sunscreens. So, if the UV index is quite high, you may want to opt for a sunscreen cream or spray to give you more protection.

WARNING: When shopping for sunscreen oils, make sure you can find the SPF number. Otherwise, it’s a tanning oil and it won’t do you any good.
